Spring 2012 Anime Preview

Medaka Box

This is no doubt my most anticipated anime coming up since I love the manga. Nisio Ishin really knows his stuff with this series and the monogatari novels. The story revolves around a first year student named Kurokami Medaka. She is elected as Student Council President and the first thing she does is establish a suggestion box which later became named “Medaka Box”. She encourages students to submit any problems they have through this box and she and the student council will do whatever they can to help them while promising to take on any issue no matter what it is. Since she won the election with a staggering 98% of the vote, she is the only member. She then asks her childhood friend, Hitoyoshi Zenkichi to join. Although resistant to join, he later found himself next to his childhood friend to help with the student council duties. The story goes from there as the two of them solves the student’s problems while gaining people to add to the Student Council. While it may look like just another Student Council anime it takes a total 180. Battles against other students are bloody and ruthless, the characters are very deep and interesting and peoples philosophy’s are challenged left and right. If you think this is just another school anime then think again because it’ll pull you in once the action starts.

Accel World

This anime is 2nd most anticipated for me. The story centers on Arita Haruyuki who has an encounter with Kuroyukihime, the prettiest girl in his school. For the middle school boy who is often bullied, the meeting changes his life. Through a mysterious piece of software from her, Haruyuki learns of the existence of the virtual Accel World. In that moment, the lowest of the “school caste” becomes “Burst Linker”, a knight defending a princess. I for one wanted to read the light novels but never got the chance to get to it but it certainly has an interesting concept and I’m hearing some good things on it so I’m expecting to be entertained.

Fate/Zero S2

Season two of Fate/Zero starts in April and I’ve been waiting for this ever since it ended. The story is 10 years prior to fate/stay night detailing the events of the 4th Holy Grail War. The upcoming servant battles and the relationships with each master and servant should be something to watch in each coming episode. The first season was damn good, and I’m expecting better things to come when this starts up again.

Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? OF THE DEAD

The Zombie ecchi anime comes back for a season two. I had a lot of fun with season one and I’m always a fan of ecchiness so bring it on is what I say. The story revolves around Aikawa Ayumu, a normal high school boy who is one day he is killed by a serial killer and revived as a zombie by a necromancer named Eucliwood Hellscythe. He starts to serve Eu as her guard but he happens to deprive the mahou shoujo Haruna of her magic power. Haruna orders Ayumu to fight against the anti-mahou shoujo system “Megalo” in her place. Zombies+Fanservice is always a good thing in my book so I’m looking forward to it.

Queen’s Blade: Rebellion

Queen’s blade comes back for another season of ecchi battles. This anime sometimes turns people off because of all the fanservice but there are some very interesting characters behind that and it does a very good job of making you care for each character and the situation they’re in. In this story after the 30th Queen’s Blade, Claudette becomes the queen. At first, she governs the country well by abolishing the heavy taxes and the aristocracy. However, her reign turns into terrorism by power and the Queen’s Blade is repealed. The Princess Knight of Rebellion, Annelotte organizes a rebel army and declares war against Claudette. The focus will be on a new cast of characters so it’ll be very interesting to see how they fair and they may come across famliar faces during their travels.

Now that the top five that I’ll be watching have been addressed here are the rest that deserve to be noted and that I’ll be watching.

Kuroko no Basuke
Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle Season Two
Eureka Seven AO
Acchi Kocchi
Shining Hearts: Shiawase no Pan
Haiyoru! Nyakuro-san
Nazo no Kanojo X

I hope I could give you some good animes to look for once the new season starts. I’ll be watching all…..18 series that I have listed here and all series make the spring look very entertaining.
